See you there. ********************************* UPCOMING TRIPS & SEMINARS SEPTEMBER….FAIRBANKS & ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, also NEW YORK CITY OCTOBER…..SEMINAR in SOUTH CENTER, TUKWILA, WASHINGTON   RECIPE BOX….Hawaiian Pizza Panini 4 slices (1/2” thick crusty bread) 2 Tbs. soft butter or olive oil 1/4 cup pizza sauce from a jar 8 oz. thinly sliced mozzarella cheese 6 oz. thinly sliced ham 2 drained pineapple slices, chopped, 1/4 cup · Preheat grill or sandwich press. · Spread olive oil or butter over 1 side of each bread slice. Place 2 slices butter-side down on work surface; spread with pizza. Top with cheese, ham and pineapple. Top with remaining bread, sauce butter or oil side up. · Place sandwiches on grill. Close lid; cook until cheese is melted and sandwiches are heated, about 5 minutes. Cut in half. Makes 4 servings. · Tip: No grill? Toast sandwiches in skillet over medium heat, pressing down with a smaller pan or lid. GOLDEN NUGGETS True Stories About Real People When one person decides to make a difference it can be quite amazing the results that evolve. This is a story of just such a person. Her name is Victoria Hale and she works for the Institute for OneWorld Health, America’s first nonprofit pharmaceutical company. A major problem exists. How can cures be found for the diseases of poverty that kill millions worldwide and have no place in the vision of major drug companies since it doesn’t create profit? Victoria came up with an answer. It was getting the pharmaceutical companies to donate patents from compounds they aren’t using. Donors like Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, OneWorld Health develops the compounds into drugs for developing-world diseases. Their first compound is scheduled for approval in India this year and it will treat a parasitic disease, visceral leishmaniasis. This parasite kills at least 200,000 people a year. OneWorld Health only accepts patents that it can develop.
