Wisdom is sometimes shared in the most unusual places and often its simplicity unexpected.
Such was the case when I was traveling this past October. At O’Hare airport during a layover between flights I made a run into the ladies room to wash my hands. My hands were dripping with water as I patiently waited for the woman in front of me to finish getting her paper towels. Unexpectedly this very gracious and thoughtful woman not only got towels for herself but she turned and handed me a couple, smiling as she did so. I was surprised and thanked her. Her response to me was a beaming smile and the words, “No big deal. It only took a moment.” Quickly grabbing her carry on bag she tossed her towels into the trash bin and disappeared into the merging group of women making their exit. I’ll never know her name but she left a lasting impression.
During the six hour layover in Chicago we were concerned that our flight to New York might be cancelled totally and we wouldn’t be able to fly out until the next day. Conversations have a way of developing when you are in a situation like this that otherwise wouldn’t occur. Many of us standing in line were waiting to hear from the airline what was going to happen and to pass the time we starting chatting with each other. One of the waiting passengers was Terri who had a surprise for me that I didn’t know was coming. While we were talking she mentioned that she was very thirsty. Since there was a fast food restaurant near us she asked if I would mind watching her bag while she got something to drink and would I like something to drink as well. I said of course. I would love a large diet Coke. She said, “You got it!” and off she went. Within minutes she returned with two big containers of drink. When I offered to pay her for mine she said, “No charge, my compliments! My husband has worked for Coca Cola for 31 years. Anyone who asks for a coke gets it for free. If you had asked for Pepsi I would have charged you!” We had a good laugh. It turns out her husband was a 3rd generation in the family that worked for the company.
Now some of you may think what I’m sharing is rather trite. However, small experiences make a big difference. Every step of the way during my travel people wanted to help. Whether it was assisting me in getting my 40 pound carry on up into the over head bin, giving directions, answering questions, it was always the same….thoughtfulness, caring and a willingness to assist for the purpose of assisting was phenomenal. All of these small moments and actions made my trip a joyful one because I paid attention, making sure I acknowledged each and every person who shared an experience with me with two magical words ‘Thank You’.
I know I may have gone around my verbal elbow to make a point however, I feel it is important. If we don’t appreciate were we are and what we are experiencing in the moment now, when will we? Now is what we are living. What we do now creates our future. When you can be present in the moment, grow and flow with it you have the power to create destiny.
November is the month of a fabulous holiday, Thanksgiving. Why not take some time this month and write a daily journal of what you are grateful for? Be present with where you are right now, the many talents you have, the blessings that fill your daily life. Take an honest look at what is going on in your life, write down what you perceive and experience the feeling of being sincerely grateful.
We all have a lot to be appreciative of. Don’t forget to honor those who do small things as well as the big ones in your life. Say ‘Thank You’ and mean it. After all it only takes a moment to pass the gratitude on.~ Donna Seebo
Power Thought for November
"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon-instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today."

…………………”Pumpkin Pancakes”
This is a recipe that I shared on the air with my listeners. With the weather getting cooler there is nothing like pancakes to make a breakfast extra special and this recipe will surprise your friends and family and they taste wonderful. Enjoy!
Ingredients: 1 ½ cups milk, 1 cup pumpkin puree, 1 egg, 2 Tbls. oil, 2 Tbls. vinegar, 2 cups all-purpose flour, 3 Tbls. brown sugar, 2 Tsp. baking powder, 1 Tsp. ground allspice, 1 Tsp. ground cinnamon, ½ Tsp ground ginger and ½ Tsp. salt.
Directions: 1) Mix together the milk, pumpkin puree, egg, oil and vinegar. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, allspice, cinnamon, ginger, and salt. Stir into the pumpkin mixture just long enough to combine.
2) Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium-high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately ¼ cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
**Donna tip ….To add additional texture to the pancakes finely chop pecans or walnuts and add to your pancake batter. Serve with real maple syrup.

GOLDEN NUGGETS
True Stories about Real People
Friendships have empowered me throughout my life. I thought this story a good one to share.
A young man spent a year with a group of Navajo Indians who were living on a reservation in the Southwestern part of the United States. He was doing research for his doctoral thesis. Their life patterns became his. He ate when they ate, sharing their food. He worked right alongside with them helping in any way he could.
The grandmother of this Indian group spoke not English. Even though the student couldn’t speak Navajo a very special bond formed between the two of them and the affection, trust and intuitive communication that developed was deep and true. As time passed the grandmother learned a few words of English and the young man learned some Navajo.
The year passed quickly and the time came for the young man to leave this wonderful community he had come to know so well. The tribe held a going away party for him. It was quite emotional for him because of the special friendships he had made. After the party, as he was packing up the final items he needed to take with him and was ready to get in his vehicle to depart, the old grandmother walked up to him to say goodbye. She was crying. The tears flowing quietly from her eyes spoke volumes. She gently placed her hands on either side of his face, looked directly into his eyes and said, “I like me best when I’m with you.”
