Power Thought for March
"The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.

A Moment with Donna
........... 11 Rules
Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about eleven (11) things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!
Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: They called it opportunity.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. *This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.*Do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.
In today’s world where all kinds of upheavals and changes are taking place I felt these 11 rules were most poignant not just for kids but for adults as well. Frequently I hear comments about the generations of today feeling entitled to the perfect life which doesn’t exist perfect security and pain free life experience. To the best of my knowledge and experience no one gets through life without bumps and grinds of discomfort. I have yet to find a successful person who has not gone through dramatic and traumatic happenings. Each of them has had to pull themselves up by their mental, emotional and physical bootstraps and take charge of their lives.
Today is a great day to give yourself some personal time to reflect on what you want to change in your environment, life habits and anything else that may be of interest to you. Above all remember that life is about living with purpose and passion, however, don’t forget to spend time with friends, family and even strangers that may come into your life experience. After all, even the Bill Gates of life takes time to play.
Donna Seebo Happy March !

The Recipe Box
Golden Puffy Omelet
Eggs are a favorite food of mine and this yummy omelet is perfect for a light dinner or a Sunday brunch.
Easy to prepare it is a perfect dish for a busy schedule. Enjoy!
Ingredients:10 eggs- separated, 4 slices bacon-cut into small pieces, 2 Tbls. butter-melted, 1 Tsp. salt, 1/4 Tsp. cream of tartar, Dash pepper, 1 cup sour cream, 2 Tsp. snipped fresh chives, 8-10 slices bread-crusts removed and halved diagonally, 3/4 cup coarsely grated Swiss or Cheddar cheese.
Directions: 1) Separate eggs; turn whites into large bowl of electric mixer and let stand at room temperature about 1 hour. Turn yolks into a small bowl. Sauté bacon until crisp. Drain on paper towels. 2) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Turn butter into shallow, oval baking dish-about 13 inches long, 2 inches deep; about 3-quart volume. 3) Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and the cream of tartar to egg whites. With mixer at high speed, beat whites just until stiff moist peaks form when beaters are slowly raised. With the same beaters, beat the egg yolks with 1/2 teaspoon salt and the pepper until they are very thick and lemon-colored. 4) Using a rubber scraper, gently fold sour cream, chives and bacon into yolks, to blend well. 5) With wire whisk, gently fold yolk mixture into whites until combined. Turn into prepared dish. Insert bread slices into mixture around edge of pan. Sprinkle top with the grated cheese. Bake 15 to 20 minutes, or until omelet is golden-brown and puffy. Serve at once. Makes 6 servings.

True Stories about Real People
Booker T. Washington, author of ‘Up From Slavery’, is a man I have a deep respect for. This is a story about a teacher that gave him one of the greatest lessons in his life. The standard of excellence this man gave throughout his life is an example for all of us.
When he was young and wanting to enter a particular institution of learning he was given an order by a head teacher to sweep the classroom. Instead of feeling like he was being put down he instead felt this was a chance of a lifetime and he was going to do his very best. He swept the room three times and then dusted all of the furniture four times. When the head teacher came back to inspect and evaluate his work she inspected the floor closely and then used her handkerchief to rub the woodwork around the walls, the table, and the students’ benches. She couldn’t find a speck of dust anywhere. She turned to him and said quietly, “I guess you will do to enter this institution.”
As it turned out this exercise in cleaning the classroom was the entrance examination to Hampton Institute in Virginia. He felt this particular experience was a turning point in his life. He said in his autobiography, “I have passed several examinations since then, but I have always felt that this was the best one I ever passed.”

Author Special Mention for March
Each month I interview 20-25 authors and they all have something special to contribute to making this world a better place. You can find out about each of them by going to www.bbsradio.com Station One and look up what is listed for the month and a brief summary of information for each publication.
. Here are my three picks for interesting reading for March.
1. The Cure for Heart Disease by Dr. Lundell. Is it possible to reverse heart disease? What can we do to prevent it? What causes heart problems? His answers may surprise you.
2. A Good Day to Die, a true story about the Dakota Chief Grey Wolf and what happened to the Dakota people. Del Barton was the granddaughter of this great chief and recorded his story before she died in the 1970’s.
3. The Ruby Tear Catcher by Nahid Sewell. Nahid gives a graphic story about the way women are treated in the Middle East and is clear and direct with her message. A powerful publication.
.

While attending an open house, my wife was taken with the home’s modern features, especially the central vacuum system installed within the walls. But she had a practical question: “What do you do when all the walls fill up?”
