A Moment with Donna.."Taming the Tiger" ©

One evening there was a special performance being done by a wild animal trainer during a popular television program. The broadcast was 'live' with a large audience of people of all ages. At the designated moment the trainer stepped out onto the stage and into the waiting cage that had been set up. Several tigers were already present inside the cage and the audience eagerly anticipated the interaction of the trainer and his tigers.

Then, it happened, the unexpected, at the worst possible moment. The lights went out. For thirty long seconds, the trainer was locked in with the tigers in complete darkness. Tigers have superb night vision and could see their trainer but he couldn't see them. Finally the lights turned back on and the performance was finished with smoothness and skill.

The trainer was interviewed after the incident. He admitted that 'fear' had paralyzed him with its icy cold grip but then he realized that even though he couldn't see the big cats, they didn't know he couldn't see them. He just kept cracking his whip and talking to them until the lights came on. They never knew his fears.

Fear, why do we have to deal with it? Why is it such a challenge? Does it ever go away?

Fear is a two edged sword. It can either work for you or against you. It is part of your survival kit of life on one hand, keeping you alert to any dangers that may come your way. But the other side is when we let it govern us to such a degree that it takes over our lives, we develop phobias and all kinds of limitations, self-imposed, on our lives.

The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, all reside together. Which do you choose to see? How do you choose to live? What do you place in your mental/emotional expectations? What baggage do you carry in life because of your fears? Only you can answer the questions about your own experiences.

You are the trainer of your environment and personal world. You have the right to 'crack the whip' over your thinking, actions and beliefs. As the trainer, you choose how you are going to respond to what is going on in your life, keeping your 'cool' when circumstances sometimes become a bit overwhelming.

Here are a few thoughts that Kathryn Kubler-Ross used with her patients that may help you tame the 'tigers' in your mental cage when they might become unruly. Take a sheet of paper and write down your 'tigers of fear'. When you have put the details into full view, then write out what you want to focus on. What you really want. Fill your desires with color, imagination, and feeling, don't hold back. Feel your desires being yours right here, right now. Then – when finished, take your papers, crumple or shred them into an ashtray, set them on fire and watch them burn into ashes. As you watch your 'paper tigers' burn, release them knowing new beginnings will rise from the ashes.

To be the master of your life, you can control your 'tigers of fear' and make them perform to your expectations. In this way you'll tame your 'destiny' as well.

Power Thought for February

"Love is the net where hearts are caught like fish."

(^.^) February Chuckle (^.^)

A friend's husband, responsible for the overall closing of a military base, was reviewing voluminous files. He found some old records that were of no possible value, and sent a letter to Washington requesting permission to destroy them. The reply he received read as follows: "Permission is given to destroy the records but please make triplicate copies of them first."

Well, it s rich in phenylethylamine or phenylalanine, a chemical that is related to the amphetamines and is responsible for our erratic behavior when we fall in love. Hm,m,m,m, that creates some interesting thoughts! So, on this special day for lovers, go out and buy the best chocolate you can find and enjoy your day, knowing that science has given you this wonderful insight into feeling good, happy and sassy. {~.~}

GOLDEN NUGGETS
True Stories About Real People

Have you ever experienced a day when Murphy's Law seemed to be the only rule that was working? This is a story that will give you a headache just knowing it is true but it also shows the resourcefulness of the individual and dedicated people handling a complex situation.

The location, the First Security Bank in Boise, Idaho. The janitor was taking care of his regular duties and accidentally put a box of eight thousand dollars on a trash table. That night, the operator of the paper shredder dutifully dumped the box of checks into his machine, which cut the checks into quarter-inch shreds. He then dumped the paper scraps into a garbage can outside the bank. When the bank supervisor arrived at the bank the next morning and realized what had occurred, he just wanted to sit down and cry.

Most of the checks had already been cashed at the bank and were ready to be sent to their clearinghouse for processing. Their loss was a bookkeepers worst nightmare since most of the checks were still unrecorded, and as a result, the bankers could not know who paid what to whom.

What to do? The supervisor ordered that the shredded pieces be reconstructed. Fifty employees worked in two shifts for six hours a day inside six rooms – shifting, matching, and pasting the quarter-inch shreds together just like you would do with a puzzle – until all eight thousand checks were put together again.
