PASSIONATE PURPOSE
It has been a busy month. Lots of interaction with people, their
problems and the dramatic changes that are occurring in their lives.
Some are dealing with financial, career challenges; others with dramatic
health issues that totally transform their emotional and physical
perspectives; and there are those that, no matter how good their lives
are, have no sense of purpose or direction.
My husband and I were visiting with friends. As usual our
conversation covered many different subjects. A particular part of our
discussions stayed strongly in my mind and it is this I want to share
with you.
We were talking about the various people we knew and how they had
adapted their lives to change as they grew older. One of the women
starting talking about a member of their family that was elderly and had
become so very difficult to live with. Bitter and angry, the elderly
person did everything they could to make the lives of the people they
were living with miserable. The family was having a most difficult time
coping with the situation.
Early one morning, this woman was looking through her kitchen
window. She saw her 86 year old neighbor, up and about working in her
garden. She noticed that this woman never had a sour look on her face
and was always in a pleasant mood. The woman made up her mind she was
going to talk with her about the elderly member of her family since they
were about the same age. Maybe she could find an answer to help her
with her unpleasant family situation.
Going next door she had a delightful visit with her neighbor. The
woman shared the details and concerns she had about the family member.
Her neighbor listened and said, "She has no passion dear, in life.
That's what's wrong with her. You see. I have a passion and that is to
care for the beautiful plants and flowers my husband bought, planted and
cared for here in our yard. I feel that that is my job.. To love and
care for these beautiful plants until I die. Your relative has no
passion. They have accepted that being older means there is nothing left
to do, nothing to look forward to."
Wow! What a powerful truth. But this is a truth that applies to all
ages, not just the elderly. If we don't feel a powerful purpose, desire
in our life we get caught up with what doesn't work rather than focusing
on new invigorating directions and goals.
I recall a particular situation with a man in his middle 30's. He
had achieved his financial objectives, was a multi-millionaire and
wanted to commit suicide because he had nothing to look forward to.
Sounds a little hard to believe, yet it was the truth. He had nothing
in his life he felt passionate about. He had lost his perspectives,
getting stuck in 'stinking thinking', creating an unfulfilling life
experience for himself. It is easy enough to do. We all do it at one
time or another when we get depressed, frustrated, disappointed.
However, by the time we finished our conversation he had changed
his mind realizing that being wealthy was a good thing but continuing to
live his life with passionate purpose makes it an enjoyable journey.
Being involved with work or something that brings you joy, a sense of
fulfillment, makes living satisfying. You allow for creativity,
spontaneity and let life flow in, about and around you in an easy
manner.
Why not, for the next few weeks, try a simple experiment. When you
awaken in the morning hold this thought in your mind as you prepare for
the day."Today is a new day. What wonderful gifts will I be given?"
Having an attitude of expectation, a sense of joy, a childlike
enthusiasm towards the unknown is an elixir that can't be beat.
At night, just before retiring, give yourself a few minutes and jot
down the gifts of the day you have received. Take time to recognize and
appreciate these gifts. It will make you realize how very rich you
really are. Also, take a moment to say 'Thank You'. Then quietly think
about what you really want in your life; what are the dreams, goals,
aspirations? Refresh your mind with new ideas, perceptions. Don't be
afraid to feed your mind and imagination with your desires. Let your
subconscious go to work on the projects that you aspire to complete.
The mind is an incredible working machine. Frequently, when you
least expect it, answers, directions are given in the most unusual,
unexpected ways. When you are feeling 'stuck', taking a pad of paper
and pen, writing down your deepest thoughts and desires allows you to
shift into the mental realm of possibilities. You start becoming
resourceful, imaginative, creative and unlimited.
Life is a gift. A gift for you to unwrap and open. Explore its
contents. I believe that part of your passionate purpose is to enjoy
the process of removing the layers of fear, ignorance and limitations;
unwrapping your talents , bringing the richness of who you are into
life's expression.
To demonstrate your passionate purpose takes time, effort,
diligence and faith. Sometimes we can only work with our dearest
desires on a part-time basis due to other responsibilities. Strangely
though, when we are true to ourselves, events/circumstances bring us to
the point of being just where we should and want to be.
If you haven't a passionate purpose, take heart and be joyful that
you can develop one that is just for you. Remember always, that you are
a unique creation of this magnificent universe and with credentials like
that .well, you are unlimited in what you can do.

A Tidbit of
History"The Easter Bunny"
() () The Easter Bunny has its origin in pre-Christian fertility
lore. The hare and the
.. rabbit were the most fertile animals known and they served
as symbols of the new life during the Spring season. The bunny as an
Easter symbol seems to have it's origins in Germany, where it was first
mentioned in German writings in the 1500's. The first edible Easter
Bunnies were made in Germany during the the early 1800's and were made
of pastry and sugar.
The Easter Bunny was introduced to American folklore by the German
settlers who arrived in the Pennsylvania Dutch country during the
1700's. The arrival of the "Oschter Haws" was considered "childhood's
greatest pleasure" next to a visit from Christ-Kindel on Christmas Eve.
The children believed that if they were good the "Oschter Haws" would
lay a nest of colored eggs. The children would build their nest in a
secluded place in the home, the barn or the garden. Boys would use
their caps and girls their bonnets to make the nests. The use of
elaborate Easter baskets would come later as the tradition of the Easter
Bunny spread throughout the country.

GOLDEN NUGGETS True
Stories About Real People
This is a letter I received from one of our readers last month in New
Mexico. Enjoy!
"Hi, Donna,
The name is Cookie. I'll keep those channels open for
inspirational stories. Here is one for you now. It's about how I got
from Washington state to New Mexico. I had taken a course about finding
my vision and seeing it like it was my own life movie. The present
tense, always knowing how it feels, tastes, etc., right now. I wrote my
vision in 1996. I saw myself living in New Mexico, painting the
beautiful high desert country. I could smell the air. It was brisk and
clean. I was riding horses and singing 'Get Along Little Doggie' while
moving cattle. I had a life partner whom I loved unconditionally. I
read this vision twice daily. Well, in the middle of 1997 I was living
in New Mexico and all of the above have come true. After 25 years in
the dental business I quit. I now have a life partner. We have three
horses, which we ride all the time; I am painting quite often and golf
quite a bit with my mother who is 81. It's now time for an addition to
my vision so I will keep you updated as things progress. I am truly
blessed.
