What is 'Serendipity'? The definition is – per Webster – an aptitude for making desirable
discoveries by accident, good fortune, and luck.

This morning I was reading about two families who won $381,000,000 in a lottery. One of the
men who purchased a ticket, did it just because he happened to stop at a gas station for a fill up,
went inside to buy a pop and with his change impulsively decided to buy a couple of lottery tickets,
never thinking he would win. Serendipitous? You bet.
We all love hearing about these experiences. They bring hope and the excitement of thought that one-day something like that will happen to us. But what about those of us who don't win the lottery, who have seemingly quiet lives; not feeling like 'serendipity' could ever touch us?
Well, 'Surprise'! – Serendipity can be just as much a part of your life as anyone else's. Reread
the definition – "It is an "aptitude" for making desirable discoveries, good fortune, luck. Now, let's
take another step – what is "aptitude"? Aptitude is - capability, ability, innate or acquired capacity for something, i.e. talent. So, how about developing "the talent" or "aptitude" for desirable changes,
good fortune and luck?

Impossible? I don't think so. Your mind, along with your feelings and actions create a personal
power that is unlimited. We train ourselves to respond, all too frequently in a negative way, to what
we hear and see. If you don't believe me, watch the news and then listen to your verbal statements
about what you've seen. Observe how your mind goes racing into its typical patterns of fear and
apprehension. If you don't stop those mental currents of worry and fear they can be overwhelming to say the least.

When I was young and performing before audiences I used to think that the intense feeling I felt
prior to singing was fear. That's what I had been told it was. When I was older, I realized that it
wasn't fear that I was feeling but excitement, energy, enthusiasm. Changing my mind through
understanding of what was really happening enabled me to enjoy myself when I presented
programs. I now have fun where before I had apprehension.

So, let's get back to "Serendipity"- how can you manifest it in your life? Easy. Expect it. That's right 'expect' to have it 'pop' into your life everyday. Whenever you find yourself being fearful, anxious – 'flip the switch' in your mind to something positive. Focus on what you want – not on what you don't want. This is a conscious process. Pay attention and you will be amazed at the results. You'll notice many serendipitous moments that just happen to come your way.

Today, turn on your 'positive switch' - forcing any negative current into positive action. Light up
your life with "Serendipity", let it shine on everyone and everything you meet, and it will come full circle bringing you love, joy, happiness, prosperity and the fulfillment of your hearts desire.

A plane was taking off from Kennedy Airport. After it reached a comfortable cruising altitude, the captain made an announcement over the intercom: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. Welcome to Flight Number 293, non-stop from New York to Los Angeles. The weather ahead is good and, therefore, we should have a smooth and uneventful flight. Now sit back and relax -'OH, MY GOD!' "

Silence followed and after a few minutes, the captain came back on the intercom and said:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am sorry if I scared you earlier, but while I was talking, the flight attendant brought me a cup of coffee and spilled the hot coffee in my lap. You should see the front of my pants!"

A passenger in Coach said, "That's nothing. He should see the back of mine!"

SPIRIT OF ALASKA
