'Welcome the bar being raised in the level of difficulty life present you -
it is a clear recognition that God values your continual spiritual growth
and loves you! Grandmaster Beyong Yu
When I interview authors, stories flow. One that was most inspiring came from an interview with Frank Lunn, and his book 'Stacking the Logs'.
A young athlete was interviewed after winning a gold medal in 1956. His name was Milt. At the tender age of 12 he decided he was going to be a world class champion. "My junior high coach told me that if I was willing, I could be a good athlete. But that wasn't good enough for me. I went
around telling everyone that I was going to be the greatest athlete in the world. That became my dream. My family shook their heads in disbelief. Others laughed at me. I didn't care. I knew what the prize was going to be and I was out to get it."
Milt, a skinny, weak, awkward kid, win a gold medal? You've got to be kidding. Milt would be the last person imaginable to reach that goal.
Not only did Milt develop himself into a world-class athlete, he competed and won the silver medal in the 1952 Olympic Decathlon and in 1956 the gold medal in the decathlon. He also achieved All-American honors in swimming, a national championship in hurdles, became a professional football player and later was inducted into an amazing 10 different halls of fame.
What others could not see or perceive was his desire, his heart and his passion to become a champion regardless of the obstacles or what people thought. He believed in himself and dedicated his time, effort and energy to achieving 'his dream'. I emphasize 'his dream' because only he could feel its power of possibility.
How often do we, upon hearing about someone's aspiration, shake our heads with our scholarly insights just knowing they'll never make it. When they prove us wrong we are amazed. Why? Because they dared to challenge the unknown, brave the storms of ignorance and learned to man their own destiny. We stand in awe of them, saying "Wow, are they ever lucky!"
Fiddlesticks! Luck wasn't the issue. It was their earnest effort, patience, dealing with the frustrations of bad decisions and more than anything else not losing sight of their passion, their dream. Sometimes, like Milt, one may see their dream come true while they are young but there
is no age limit on achievement. If you are feeling like giving up on life because it doesn't play fair - don't! There are no guarantees. Only you can fuel the fires of greatness within yourself.
So, determine your personal target and lock onto it. Write down what your aspirations are. Define and get details in how you perceive them. Close your eyes and visualize, see, feel, taste, touch and hear with emotion that which you desire. Don't be afraid to question your course and perhaps, you'll find a better, different direction to follow. Then go and do what needs to be done.
Lock onto to your target objectives. Steady now...ready, aim....'Fire!'
Did you hit your objective? No? Well don't give up. Remember, practice makes perfect. Perfect practice means you'll hit your target - not just once but as many times as you lock onto your target.
Champions are not born they are made through the fires of belief, experience and persistence. You have what it takes to be the best you can be. I believe in you. Believe in yourself and you'll be amazed at your accomplishments.

Rushing to a bridge tournament, a woman was pulled over for going 43 in a 35 m.p.h. zone.
"What'll I tell my husband?" She worried, explaining to the police officer that her husband was a self-described 'perfect' driver.
The cop took a second look at the name and address on her license. "Did your husband go duck hunting this morning?" he asked.
Baffled, She answered, "Yes."
"I stopped him for going 47." A.A. Dunn, Utah

GOLDEN NUGGETS
True Stories About Real People
Many wealthy and famous people have their favorite charities or organizations they like to support. Dolly Parton started in 1996, a library with a unique title, 'Imagination Library. This year the millionth book, Bedtime by Kate Duke, was given to a little girl Cana Wyanick of Danville,
Alabama. Ms. Parton wanted to inspire children to read by sending them a free book every month from birth to the age five.
What an inspiration, especially since libraries across the country are battling with budget limitations as their funds are cut. Libraries are one of the richest sources of knowledge, information and the opportunity to explore new horizons that we have as American citizens. Enjoy and support your local library. They have wonderful supportive staff that enjoy seeing
children and adults read, study and utilize what they have to offer.
