A Moment with Donna"Taking A Break"©

"The only preparation for tomorrow is the right use of today." Author Unknown

If you are anything like me your schedule is a hectic one and you rarely have time to just sit and be
quiet. Just about everyone I talk to feels like their pace of life is moving at breakneck speed and they yearn to 'get away from it all', to relax and enjoy themselves.

Recently I made a decision that I was going to give myself some time to refresh my mind and
spirit. It happened when I went to my local library to do some research. When I entered the building time seemed to stand still. The atmosphere was quiet and after finishing my research, I found myself looking through the 'New Books" section. Within moments 6 books were in hand and before I knew it I was checking them out and heading home. I can remember thinking to myself, "I must be crazy, when am I going to have the time to read these books?"

Well, I have to tell you that within 3 days I finished two of the books and the others will be
completely read by the due date. What a delight it was to share the 'mental journeys' of Bill Cosby's, "Cosbyology", whose humor made me laugh so hard tears were running down my cheeks; Raymond Moody JR's, "Life After Loss", his wisdom in dealing with grief; and "Ghost" by Katherine Ramsland, who decided to become a researcher in 'ghost busting'.

Each of these authors gave me a retreat into arenas of insight, joy and adventure through their
written words. Books are such treasures and their gifts are so rich. They enable one to travel to
different worlds, explore cultures, expand our knowledge and you can do it all in the comfort of your
own environment. It is a wonderfully inexpensive way to shift into another level of thinking,
nourishing your mind with new ideas and information. A books content can create questions,
stimulate enthusiasm for new ideas, exploration for change and expansion in life. Some stories will give diversion from stagnation, adding romance and adventure, revitalizing our imagination.

Summer is upon us. The warm temperatures and long hours of daylight are perfect companions
for sitting with a book as a companion, enjoying the journey your mind will have the chance to
experience with the written word. Take time; refresh yourself with a break from television and videos, to make new friends with authors you may have heard about and want to get to know. Books won't fuss at you, criticize or get angry. They are friends that just wait around until you take the time to visit with them. The time you give yourself to enjoy your 'book friends' will relax and enrich your day in a very special way.

As Julia Child would say, 'Bon Appetite' regarding food – I say the same regarding books, savor
and enjoy them to their fullest degree. It will give a break in your otherwise hectic pace and revitalize your spirit. Prepare for tomorrow by renewing your mind today-read a book.

A MOMENT WITH DAD
A Dad is a person who is loving and kind,
And often he knows what you have on your mind.
He's someone who listens, suggests, and defends ~
A dad can be one of your very best friends!
He's proud of your triumphs, but when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient and helpful and strong.
In all that you do, a dad's love plays a part ~
There's always a place for him deep in your heart ~
And each year that passes, you're even more glad,
More grateful and proud just to call him your dad!

Thank you, Dad
For listening and caring, for giving and sharing
But especially, for just being you!
Happy Father's Day with love,
(written by Dave & Sonya)

(~.~) CHUCKLE FOR June (~.~)

A farmer on a tractor approached a driver whose car was stuck in a mud hole. "For ten bucks, I'll
pull you out of there," the farmer said.

"All right," the driver agreed.

After the farmer had pocketed the money, he said, "You know, yours is the tenth car I've rescued
today."

"Wow," the driver said incredulously. "When do you have time to work on your land? At night?"

"No," the farmer replied. "Night is when I fill the hole with water."

GOLDEN NUGGETS ~ True stories about real people

In a publication, 'MCKinney Living', the author Robert Duncan relates a story about a friend of his, Cam. Cam loved the Grand Ole Oprey and attends the final performance held at the Ryman Auditorium. Cam and a friend managed to go backstage after the performance. Cam managed to get the autographs of the various stars in the show to sign the only piece of paper he had – a one-dollar bill. He was so proud of that 'special' dollar and carried it with him wherever he went.

One morning during the bitter winter of 1976-77, Cam left the station where he worked and noticed a young man sitting in an old yellow Dodge. The car was still there the next day when he came to work and the next. Cam went over to talk to the young man, asking if something was wrong, and the man told him he had arrived in town for a job that didn't begin for three more days. He had no food and no place to stay. Reluctantly, he asked Cam if he might borrow a dollar. Cam told him he was down to his last dime, but then recalled his Grand Ole Opry dollar. He gave it spontaneously.

The next day, Cam got a job paying $500 for two hours' work. More opportunities began to flow his way. Eventually, Cam was back on his feet financially. He never again saw the man in the old yellow car. Cam only knew that whoever the man was, and whatever principle was in effect, things happened when he gave his "bottom dollar".
